A speedrunner's achievement would be cool too, kinda like how Shovel Knight has one for beating the game in less than an hour and a half.
I'm not into speedrunning, but it still seems like a nice challenge for most people, speedrunner or not.

Trophy talk

Postby Vipes » Fri Aug 01, 2014 7:49 pm

Now that the forums are up, I think now would be an awesome time for this topic. I have often talked about how creative and fun trophies are very important to me in a game. They really add something beyond the initial game, making goals and challenges for the gamer willing to go there. Many games consist of filler trophies, ones you get for just playing the game (you beat chapter 1!) But I hope to steer the trophies of Timespinner to the challenging and creative side with a full list!

I would love for any of you to add your thoughts on what makes a great trophy, and your thoughts for trophy ideas in Timespinner! For example, instead of "You beat the sector 2 boss!" It could be "You beat the sector 2 boss without using time stop" Or "Without getting hit" Trophies you strive for, go out of your way, and say "I want that challenge!" I mean....that's why the system was created in the first place! Not to gather a bunch of easy ones and watch that little number next to your name go up...

I hope to see many trophy ideas, the more creative and challenging, the better! For those who think trophies are a waste of gaming, and hate them, that's okay, you can have your thoughts, but you don't need to come here and tell us that. Be respectful, and don't spread any negativity.

Thanks Llama~~

Hey Vipes! You should make a list of things you would like to see. I definitely like the idea of trophies/medals for defeating a boss without taking damage or without using timestop. Then trophies could be based on the quantity of a certain medals?

Hrm, something I've always wanted to see is the achievements or trophies being used to unlock things in a sense. Perhaps you unlock an extra shop in New Game Plus and with the points from trophies, etc. you can buy cosmetic changes like color swaps or some such thing? Just an idea that came to mind.

Honestly, yeah. Going full Order of Ecclesia mode and rewarding a marker or medal for defeating a boss without taking any damage would be nice, I think. They wouldn't actually do anything aside from indicate that you did the thing. Giving actual rewards, aside from costumes (Maybe? I don't know if you're into the idea of secret appearance changes), seems like something that could be done but likely shouldn't.

I can see why it hasn't been done before, but I'd still like to see achievements be actual rewards somehow, but to make things more fair, it's why I mentioned it'd only be pure cosmetic changes...at least to keep the balance. Other addition to that could be various color schema based on metroidvania heroes, like a black cloak and white haired scheme for Alucard "costume", pink suit and green hair for "old school samus costume", etc.
